"Who Are You?"
We are one congregation of the church of
Jesus Christ. We are not
affiliated with any denomination but, instead, seek only to be Christians.
We are part of a fellowship of over two million Christians in over
13,000 congregations in the U.S. alone, with sister congregations on
every inhabited continent of the world. Its own elders, in harmony with
the New Testament, govern each congregation. We do not acknowledge the
authority of man-made creeds or documents, but instead follow the New
Testament as our only rule of faith and practice. We want to speak where
the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. We want
to know God's will and live it in our lives.
"What Do You Do?"
In addition to the expected worship services and Bible
classes, we are involved in ministry projects at home and away. We
operate a "Clothing Closet" for people in need of replacement clothing.
We also operate a Food Pantry for those in dire emergency. We help
support three children's homes
Westview Boys Home,
Hope Harbor Children's Home and Tipton Children's Home , an adoption
service
Christian Services of
Oklahoma, a Christian camp
Camp Blue Haven . We
also help support Mission work in the United States (Colorado) as well
as in Cancun, Mexico and Nicaragua.
"What Can I Expect?"
When you visit the Church of Christ at Seminole, you
will find friendly people, eager to help you find your way around the
building and get acquainted. We offer Bible classes for all ages
from 3 months up. Each of these classes, for children or adults,
focuses on the Holy Bible and how God's word applies to our lives every
day.
"What Do I Do In Worship?"
When visiting a worship service for the first time,
many people are nervous about making a mistake-perhaps standing at the
wrong time, or making an incorrect response. That is a very
unlikely accident to happen in our worship, so relax! For example,
songbooks are furnished for every pew, and the song numbers will be
announced prior to singing. Time is allowed for all to turn to the
proper location. We encourage you to sing with us, blending your voice
with ours in praise to God. The communion bread and fruit of the
vine will be passed to you and you will have opportunity to participate
or merely pass the items on, depending on your conscience. A collection
is taken, but you need not feel obligated to contribute. Its
members support the church and, as a guest, you are welcome merely to
pass the plate to your neighbor. The sermon will be based on Bible
truth and be designed to help you live for Jesus Christ each day.
The worship service lasts only one hour, but may have eternal effects on
you! Please blend your heart and mind with ours as we offer up
prayers and petitions to God. And feel free to ask anyone any questions
you might have! God bless you and keep you! "All the churches
of Christ send greetings" (Rom. 16:16 NIV).
